Dear neighbors,
My name is Nabeela Syed, and I’m running to represent you in the 26th Senate District. I’ve been deeply honored to serve you in the Illinois House where I’ve worked hard to deliver real results for Illinois families and now I’m ready to build on that progress in the Senate.
As your next state senator, I’ll continue my work to make prescription drugs more affordable. During my time in the House, I passed a law to stop price gouging on generic drugs, and I intend to continue that work by capping out-of-pocket costs, expanding access to affordable medicine and holding pharmaceutical companies accountable for unfair pricing practices.
I will also remain a steadfast advocate for healthcare access. That means protecting reproductive rights, expanding mental health services and ensuring that seniors, children and people with pre-existing conditions aren’t left behind by federal cuts to healthcare coverage.
I also know that families across our district, and throughout this country, are feeling the pressure of rising costs. That’s why I’m fighting to tackle the cost of living, provide meaningful tax relief and reduce the property tax burden that places an unfair strain on homeowners in Illinois.
I believe in being an authentic and hardworking voice for our community. I believe in an Illinois where all people have the opportunity to thrive. Representing you has been an honor of a lifetime, and I’m ready to get to work in the Senate.

We can already feel the effects of climate change in all aspects of our lives, including health, food security, transportation, and energy. As part of the generation that will be most impacted by these climate disasters, Nabeela has prioritized legislation that will lead Illinois to 100% clean energy within the next few decades. Healthcare is a human right. While Illinois has made great strides in providing access to healthcare, we need to ensure every member within our community has access to necessary care, whether it is making prescription medication more affordable or providing treatment of a preexisting condition. Every student deserves the opportunity to receive a high-quality public education, from Pre-K through college. The recent pandemic has only highlighted inequities, from unequal broadband access to poor extracurricular opportunities, that keep many students from reaching their full potential. Learn more.
